Julia Reesor

Meet Julia Reesor

Julia Reesor is a Canadian poet and writer who grew up in Ontario, Canada.

While freewriting in her journal and the occasional diner napkin, she used poetry and prose as a form of self-expression to help her understand the experiences she endured and the feelings that accompanied them.

Her writing journey took form in her unpublished manuscript, which reveals the harrowing experiences she endured beginning at the age of twelve. After completing her manuscript, she locked her work up and let it collect dust for years.

To this day, her manuscript has never seen the light of day.

Until now.

On a whim, Julia began publishing some of the poems in her manuscript on social media. After finding a community of those who resonated with every sorrow-filled emotion packed within her words, she decided to structure a select amount of poems from her unpublished manuscript into her first book, Sea Glass Secrets.

While her poems capture some of the darkest moments associated with childhood trauma, grief, and healing, her stories are close to her heart and for all to read.

Julia now lives close to the beach in Ontario, where she is reminded of the waves of childhood trauma and grief that once swallowed her out to sea.

Except now, the shore is where she writes.

With every word you read, know that my purpose is this: To write about the unspoken, no matter how dark, nor deep, the depths are.

Behind Glass Shadows

About The Book

Behind Glass Shadows is a powerful poetry collection that uncovers how the pain experienced in childhood leaves a profound impact on the human soul. Divided into three sections, Behind Glass Shadows delves into the lifelong struggle of confronting childhood wounds, learning to coexist with unhealed scars, and finding comfort in embracing them as an inseparable part of who you are.

Each page is a step closer to understanding that healing is not a mandatory destination but a complex, evolving process. There is comfort in being stuck in your healing, finding relief in the ache of your past experiences, and embracing the shadows that shape who you are.
